MBA in Healthcare Management at Walsh University

Walsh University offers a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management through the DeVille School of Business. The program provides a balance between business know-how and the distinctive characteristics and demands of the healthcare industry. The program is offered both on-campus and online. It requires the completion of 36 semester hours. The curriculum includes MBA core courses and concentration courses in healthcare management. The core courses include:

  • sustainable ethical leadership
  • marketing
  • financial accounting and management
  • organizational behavior and communication
  • information systems] applied organizational research and analysis

The specialty courses include:

  • quality and performance management

After completion of the coursework, students must complete the MBA Leadership Experience Practicum. The practicum is connected to the mission of the university in helping students become leaders in service to others. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have the ability to think critically and solve issues in healthcare organizations. Walsh University was established in 1960 as Walsh College by the Brothers of Christian Instruction as a liberal arts institution providing education to young men. It began with programs in business administration and secondary education and pre-professional programs in:

The college was named after Most Reverend Emmet Walsh, the Bishop of the Youngstown Diocese. The Brothers played a major role in the university throughout its history. They served as faculty and presidents, and assisted with the development and growth of programs and facilities.

The college officially became Walsh University in 1993. Today, Walsh University is home to nearly 3,000 students from 40 states and 40 countries. The enrollment has grown 80 percent since 2002. The U.S. News and World Report ranks Walsh University #64 in its Regional Universities Midwest publication and #76 in its Best Value Schools publication.
