Healthcare Management Master’s Programs in Kansas

Kansas is located in the Midwestern region in the geographic center of the United States. It’s often called by the nicknames of the “Sunflower State” and “Jayhawker State.” As one of the most agricultural states in the country, Kansas is famous for producing high yields of:

  • wheat
  • sorghum
  • sunflowers

It’s perhaps best known for being the home of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Kansas has been ranked as the state with the second highest average number of tornadoes per 10,000 square miles each year at the heart of Tornado Alley. It’s the 15th most extensive and 33rd most populous state in the nation. The following is the only Master’s level degree program that has been accredited by the CAHME for aspiring healthcare administrators in Kansas.

Standing atop Mount Oread on what students affectionately call the “Hill” in the heart of Lawrence, the University of Kansas is a major public comprehensive research and teaching institution. Its been a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities since 1909. It has consistently high rankings for its academic programs. U.S. News and World Report ranks the University of Kansas as:

  • the 101st best college
  • 47th top public school
  • 15th best college for veterans in the nation

The UK Medical Center is the sole medical school in Kansas that has the state’s only designated National Cancer Institute. It’s also highly ranked as the 37th best medical school with the 41st best graduate healthcare management program in the United States.

Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA)

The Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree program prepares students for employment in a wide range of professional healthcare settings. It employs their leadership skills and knowledge of health policy to improve health services delivery to diverse communities. The program offers a blend of social sciences with business content in regards to the healthcare industry. Students can expect to complete the 56-credit degree in two years full-time or three to four years part-time. This includes a graduate internship in health services administration in the summer semester. If interested, those enrolled to receive the MHSA also have the option of pursuing several joint degree programs to earn a JD, MSN, or MD degree concurrently.
